Self Regional Healthcare is pleased to announce that Rod Boula, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Abbeville Area Medical Center (AAMC) will also take on the CAO role at Edgefield County Healthcare (ECH), beginning January 2024 when Carlos Milanes retires as CEO.
Rod Boula, a seasoned healthcare executive with thirty-nine years of experience, has been serving as the Interim CEO of Abbeville Area Medical Center since April 2022. His proven leadership skills and extensive background in healthcare administration make him the ideal candidate to guide both AAMC and ECH through crucial transitions and toward their future goals. With the affiliation between AAMC, ECH, and SRH, Mr. Boula is uniquely positioned to contribute to the delivery of advanced specialty care to patients in Abbeville and Edgefield counties.
Mr. Boula’s impressive career includes roles as CEO of Calais Regional Hospital in Calais, Maine, CEO of Elizabethtown Community Hospital in Elizabethtown, New York, and Interim CEO at Inter-Lakes Health in Ticonderoga, New York. He has also held numerous other senior leadership positions in hospitals across New York, demonstrating his commitment to the field of healthcare.
Educationally, Mr. Boula holds a Master’s in Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Champlain College in Burlington, as well as a Master’s certificate in Healthcare Quality Improvement. His academic achievements also include a Bachelor’s in Science degree in Business Administration from SUNY Empire State and an AAS degree from the State University of NY at Canton.
Mr. Boula’s dedication to service extends beyond his professional life. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he received multiple military honors for leadership and awards for service above and beyond the call of duty. He is a proud member of the Abbeville Rotary, Lion’s Club, and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus in Greenwood, South Carolina, as well as Morrisonville, New York. He and his wife, Bernadette, have been married for 47 years and have 3 children and 11 grandchildren.
